2011 Hair Trends: Braids

The discerning eye might notice that the twin ponytails on our first model are very rough and messy, but still provide excellent form and substance. Messy twin fishtail and French braids are very popular currently and they can add a fierce look to almost any facial type. Similarly the image on the right shows us that twin tails can be crossed over to make interesting designs reminiscent of a figure eight.

2011 hair trends don’t get more popular that large side braids and the very popular boho braid. Braid hairstyles have been the major style trend recently and these are two incredible examples of beautiful braids that match both the proper facial structure and hair texture.

This intricate braiding work was crafted by Aminaka Wilmont. You can see by the tight, shiny, braids that the model’s hair is well managed and styled. I personally like the ends left free in this manner. The cross weave provides an eye-catching look.

Our next two styles are masterfully crafted as well. Once again we see the 2011 hair trends that lean toward large and impressive braid hairstyles. The image on the left shows a braid that blends with the hair on the sides to create more volume and luster. The image on the right is an elegant, yet wispy braid that includes a soft bun on top for added intrigue and mystery.

This Charlotte Ronson designed hair masterpiece shows off one of the major 2011 hair trends quite well. Small braids that peek out from beneath voluminous hair. This provides a more dynamic look compared to simply allowing your hair to fall free.

2011 hair trends are not all about crazy braids, however. Check out this traditional braid as crafted by Emilio Pucci. The softness and whimsy of a girlish braid, mixed with the sophistication of a master’s styling touch makes this classic look a winner!

2011 – 2012 Hair Trends: Braid Hairstyles

The cross-over braid is back with this Kenzo styled masterpiece. Unlike the first cross-over braid we mentioned, this one is a little less tight but possesses more flair. Personally I’m not a major fan of this many wisps showing in hair braids. Although, it does look good here so perhaps I’ll change my mind?

These braid hairstlyes are among some of the better ones that I’ve seen recently. The classic look on the right contrasts well with the crossed-over twin braids on the left.

Lanvin has been rocking the single braid a great deal compared to the twin braid looks that many other stylists offer. Check these two braid hairstyles out and see if you can resist trying them!

The mid-level twin braids on the right readily contrast with the large single braid on the left. 2011 has been about the braid and the classic style on the left versus the modern take on twin ponytails on the right showcases the two primary braided hairstyles and 2011 – 2012 hair trends!
The 2011 hair trends that are most interesting and shocking to see are not the flamboyant peacock styles of yesteryear. The most interesting and unique among these hair trends are the braid hairstyles that have cropped up.
